Beijing has successfully developed a super water pump

2024-06-22
Yesterday, the reporter learned that a batch of research projects on high-rise fire prevention supported by the Municipal Science and Technology Commission have recently been completed. All super high-rise buildings in the city plan to establish digital archives and conduct 3D simulation within one or two years for fire emergency and firefighting rescue drills. Fire trucks with a water delivery capacity of over 500 meters are also in production.

System analysis of fire spread trend

Yesterday, Yuan Hongyong, Deputy Director of the Public Safety Research Center at Tsinghua University, showcased the comprehensive digital fire emergency plan system for the third phase of Guomao, which establishes digital information archives for the project. In this system, all information of the entire building is presented in a clear and organized manner, including the building area, the number of personnel on the day, and the accurate location of each fire hydrant, fire escape route, automatic fire extinguishing device, evacuation sign, etc., all displayed on the map of each floor.

Once a fire occurs, the system can analyze the spread trend of the fire by inputting climate factors such as the location of the ignition point and the prevailing wind direction. It is also possible to determine how many forces need to be deployed and how to arrange foam trucks, water trucks, ladder trucks, etc. in the fastest time by analyzing the data configured by the surrounding fire brigade. The optimal evacuation plan for each area of the building is also calculated. Yuan Hongyong said that this system is installed in the command center of the city fire department and can collaborate with each fire brigade and fire truck through networking.

Firefighter 3D simulation fire drill

Most super high-rise buildings have complex structures, and firefighters need to thoroughly familiarize themselves with the building to deal with emergencies. The fire training system for super high-rise buildings developed by the Public Safety Research Center of Tsinghua University effectively solves this problem. Yesterday, staff from Tsinghua University conducted an on-site demonstration of the system. A 3D simulation scene of Guomao Phase III appeared on the computer. Three staff members simulated and controlled three virtual firefighters to enter the 7th floor fire scene and extinguish the fire in the way they believed was optimal. The system will give scores based on the time and method of extinguishing the fire. The virtual scenes within the system are presented in 3D form at a certain scale according to the actual situation, and firefighters can also familiarize themselves with the structure of the building while moving inside.

Li Jin, Deputy Director of the Beijing Fire Department, introduced that the system will be used in various squadrons and soldiers will be assessed. Except for the third phase of Guomao, the fire training system and comprehensive digital fire emergency plan system for more than 50 high-rise buildings will also be completed within one or two years.

Super water pump solves the problem of water supply

Li Jin introduced that many super high-rise buildings such as Guomao Phase III and CCTV New Site are now over 200 meters high. But currently, the world's most advanced aerial ladder trucks purchased by Beijing are only 101 meters high, and with three high-power fire trucks connected in series, they can only transport water to a height of 160 meters. Therefore, water supply for high-rise firefighting has always been a major challenge. Since 2010, Sany Heavy Industry has been developing super water pumps, transplanting the technology of transporting concrete from high-rise buildings to high-rise water supply.

The pressure required to deliver concrete is 40 Pa, but firefighters cannot handle water delivery exceeding 6 Pa, and it cannot be delivered below 4 Pa. In addition, there are also great requirements for pipelines. Fortunately, this water pump has finally been successfully developed. "Li Jin revealed that the design height of the new water pump is 500 meters, but it can actually reach 700, 800, or even 1000 meters. The prototype vehicle equipped with this water pump is currently in production and plans to introduce this technology to Beijing.
